Active Playground Equipment Ontario manufactures commercial accessible and inclusive playground equipment, and understands the difference between universal playground equipment, and meerly accessible playground equipment. Accessible playground equipment design, and universal playground equipment design can be completely different. and has their own specific design requirements. For accessible playground equipment, we may have to add an accessible ramp for the user to get up onto the play structure or playground equipment, whereas, whereas for universal playground design, quite often we design many components at ground level so children of all abilities can play together. The intent of accessible playground equipment, or inclusive playground equipment is to not just get kids up on the playground, but have a variety of play events for them to do when on the play structure. For instance, on an accessible playground equipment design, there should be a variety of appropriate play components for the accessible child. For a universal playground design, ground level components and different play events should be planned so both the completely able bodied child, and one using a wheelchair, or walker can play together.
