A. Materials

1. Steel Components
All steel tube components are manufactured with Flo-Coat™ galvanizing system. This includes a three layer exterior coating comprising of zinc galvanizing, chromate conversion and clear organic. The interior is treated with a 90% zinc coating.

Posts
All vertical posts are 4” (101.6mm) x 4” (101.6mm) x 13 gauge (2.32mm) in accordance with ASTM 569.

Post Caps
Cast aluminum caps with 3/16” (5mm) minimum thickness riveted to top of posts.

Decks
Composite structure consisting of angle and 11 gauge (3.12mm) expanded metal plate complete with structuralreinforcements as required. Standard deck dimensions: 51” (1295mm) x 43” (1090mm) x 2” (50mm). Hexagonal deck dimensions: 43” (1090mm) side length x 93” (2360mm) across. All decks are perforated with 7/8” (22mm) diameter (finished size) holes. For the past 10 years we have manufactured platforms with many types of surface geometry. We have experienced that platforms with the larger holes typically remain clean and clear of debris (a CSA standard) and offer the least amount of opportunity for injury.

Railings
Top and bottom rails are 1 3/8” (34.93mm) diameter complete with 1 1/4” (31.75mm) diameter spindles.

2. Rotationally Molded Plastic Components
Rotationally-molded plastic parts are molded from linear medium-density polyethylene resin. All parts are solid in colour and include u.v. stabilizers. All parts have an average wall thickness ranging from 0.125” (3.18mm) to 0.375” (9.53mm).

3. Play Panels
Stress relieved high-density polyethylene compression molded panels 3/4” (19mm) thick. All panels include
u.v. stabilizers and antic static protection.

4. Fasteners
All fasteners are 316 grade stainless steel.

B. Finishes

1. Powder Coating
All steel components (excluding decks) are powder coated. Metal preparation for powder coat paint finish consists of sandblasting to eliminate micro-rust and scale and to profile the steel to maximize powder adhesion. Parts are then cleaned and pre-baked to eliminate any liquid residue and prepare for coating. Polyester dry powder coating is electro-statically applied and oven cured at 400°F (204°C) resulting in a surfacing thickness of 3 – 5 mil (0.076mm – 0.127mm) that is extremely durable and even in finish.

2. Plastisol Coating
Plastisol coating is a polyvinyl chloride with an average thickness of 0.15” (3.81mm), unless other wise specified.Prior to coating, parts are chemically washed, epoxy primed, and allowed to dry completely. Parts are then pre-heated to 350°F (177°C) and submerged in Plastisol. Coated parts are cured in a liquid salt bath. Plastisol contains a flame-retardant additive, u.v. stabilizer to maintain colour, and fungastat to improve resistance to fungal growth.

Statement of Warranty

Lifetime Warranty on Steel Support Posts
Active Playground Equipment Inc. warrants against structural failure due to corrosion or deterioration caused by defects in materials and workmanship.

Lifetime Warranty on Stainless Steel Hardware
Active Playground Equipment Inc. warrants against failure due to corrosion or deterioration from exposure to weather caused by defects in workmanship.

3 Year All Inclusive Warranty
Active Playground Equipment Inc. warrants that if any of our playground components fail due to defects in workmanship, or materials, within 3 years from date of invoice, we will repair or replace all parts found defective without cost. Labour costs will be covered for 2 years.

20 Year Warranty on Support Components
Active Playground Equipment Inc. warrants the steel part of all deck platforms, rails, loops, rungs and climbers against structure failure due to corrosion and deterioration from exposure to weather caused by defects in workmanship.

10 Year Warranty on Plastic Components
Active Playground Equipment Inc. warrants against structural failure from exposure to weather conditions caused by defects in product or workmanship. Note: some gradual colour fading will occur on any plastic
component. This is limited to a cosmetic concern and will not be considered a structural failure.

10 Year Warranty on Paint Finish - Polyester Powdercoat ‘ArmourCoat’
Active Playground Equipment Inc.. warrants against delamination and adhesion failure of the paint to the steel. ArmourCoat is applied to all steel posts, rails, climbers and rungs. NOTE: Paint wear can be expected on
surfaces exposed to abrasive traffic areas, most notably when sand or pea-stone is used for safety surfacing.

10 Year Warranty on Deck and Stairs Coating Finish - CushionGuard
Active Playground Equipment Inc. warrants against delamination and adhesion failure of the coating to the steel. Cushion-Guard is the ultra-thick PVC coating applied to decks, stairs, and step disks. NOTE: Coating wear can be expected on surfaces exposed to abrasive traffic areas, most notably when sand or pea-stone is used for safety surfacing.

1 Year Warranty on Moving Parts

Active Playground Equipment Inc. warrants against structural failure due to deterioration from exposure to weather and normal usage caused by defects in workmanship.

CSA Compliance Guarantee
Active Playground Equipment Inc. warrants that all playground equipment products manufactured and installed by Active Playground Equipment Inc. are done so in strict accordance with CSA-Z614-07. For a period of 12 months from the date of completed installation Active Playground Equipment Inc. will rectify without cost any non-compliant issues caused by improper design, manufacturing or installation procedures.

Warranty and CSA Compliance Conditions
Warranty and CSA Compliance claims will be compromised should any claim be a result of the following:
1. Unintentional exclusions from any inspection report carried out by the owner or a third party inspector
identified 12 months after the date of invoice.
2. Failure on the part of the Owner/Operator to undertake maintenance inspections and keep maintenance
records in accordance with CSA requirements.
3. Failure on the part of the Owner/Operator to properly maintain the playground equipment products.
4. Vandalism or abuse.
5. Alterations or repairs that are undertaken without the approval of Active Playground Equipment Inc.
6. Any requirements that exceed the scope of the applicable version of CSA-Z614.
7. Warranties of products that are not manufactured directly by APE are limited to the OEM warranty terms.
