Pea Stone is another inexpensive surfacing solution, and is typically cleaner and requires less maintenance than sand. Peastone consists of small pebbles, with an average diameter of 3/8” - 1/2”.

Peastone is easy to find, and easy to replace. Peastone will develop ‘hard-pan’ 2-4” from the surface due to migrating dust. The best practice is to rototill each spring in order to restore fall height properties.
